Family and Youth Work

The right start in life is crucial for a personโ€™s long-term development.

YMCA Cardiff is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every young person. We equip them to become ambitious learners, active contributors, and responsible citizens who enrich our communities. Through creative engagement and meaningful connections, we empower young people to shape a brighter future for themselves and their neighbourhoods.

The Vale Young Carers project, run by YMCA Cardiff and funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, is currently supporting over 100 young carers across the County. This project is designed to provide young carers with the support they need to manage their caring responsibilities, learn new life skills, make friends, and have fun!

The Healthy Relationships Project (SHOT) empowers young people (ages 11-25 in Cardiff, 11-18 in the Vale of Glamorgan) to make informed decisions about their relationships and sexual health. We’re here to create a safe and supportive space for young people and their families to learn and thrive.
