POST: Volunteer Co-ordinator (Vale Young Carer’s Projects)

RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Project Worker (Vale Young Carer’s project)

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 9am – 10pm Monday to Sunday, (flexibility is expected to suit the needs of the project and young people)

SALARY: £23,107

CONTRACT: Fixed term for 12 months

JOB PURPOSE:

Working within the Youth & Community team, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of the Young Carers volunteer mentor provision in the Vale of Glamorgan to meet the aims of the project.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Project management. Specific responsibilities:

a) Recruitment, training and support for a team of volunteer mentors for the Vale Young Carers Volunteer Mentoring Program and the delivery of training, recruitment, support and development for volunteer mentors.

b) To review services and paperwork regularly in partnership with volunteers, staff and service users and identify any areas of improvement

c) To contribute to, implement and monitor new developments and collate service outcomes.

d) To actively support service user involvement in the development of services.

e) To research and apply for funding opportunities where relevant.

f) To liaise with relevant agencies and funders.

g) To work in partnership with all relevant youth work agencies, voluntary and statutory services to improve outcomes for young carer’s.

h) To work towards funding targets (RBA etc.) ensuring all outcomes are recorded and reported to as required

i) To ensure volunteers are supported in regard to their own role in achieving goals and targets, through monthly supervision and annual reviews

j) To report any project related complaints to appropriate management

 

2. Financial Obligations. Specific responsibilities:

a) To record any spend on budget spreadsheets, to maintain budgets, with oversight from project senior and manager

b) To promote value for money

 

3. To carry out other duties that reasonably falls within the scope of the post. Specific responsibilities:

a) Responding to emergencies / crisis.

b) Attendance at meetings deemed appropriate by the project managers

d) Participation in training and supervision.

e) You must work constructively with other departments within the YMCA Cardiff Group.

f) Assisting with jobs that usually fall to another member of staff, but in whose absence, failure to carry out the work would present a risk or offence to others or would be detrimental to the organisation’s service provision.

g) To be able to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values
