YMCA Cardiff Youth & Community are pleased to announce funding from Allchurches Trust in order to provide in-house counselling and wellbeing services to young people.

YMCA Cardiff runs a number of youth projects across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan including young carer’s projects, the Healthy Relationships Service, C-card scheme and youth provision at YMCA Plas Community Centre. The Coronavirus pandemic and closure of schools has exacerbated issues of loneliness and isolation amongst young people and with funding from Allchurches Trust the organisation can now expand to provide young people with access to in-house counselling services, alongside other well-being activities such as mindfulness and yoga.

The aim of the new services will be to grow resilience, promote mental and emotional health, wellbeing and support young people with loneliness and isolation exacerbated by the pandemic. Young people will have increased resilience through having a trusted adult to talk to regarding their concerns, they will feel listened to and this will then help them to set personal goals and informed choices. Young people will feel less isolated and more connected to peers, professionals, and trusted adults and will have a safe space with a trusted adult to talk about any anxieties or mental health issues that may have arisen due to COVID-19.

We would like to thank Allchurches Trust for their support.

The organisation will shortly commence recruitment for the in-house Counsellor position. Please follow our social media channels and website for further updates.
